Paramedics said that crews had three patients and an Ornge air ambulance was dispatched to take one person to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A second was being transported by ambulance to the trauma centre.
Ottawa Fire Services said that they arrived to find the occupants of the van trapped. Firefighters freed one person and began providing care for a second who remained trapped inside.
Firefighters used specialized tools to remove that occupant from the heavily damaged van and worked with paramedics to prepare a landing site for the air ambulance, OFS said.
Mitch Owens Road was closed between John Quinn Road and 8th Line Road and Ramsayville Road was closed South of Rideau Road, police said.
