Three Petawawa-area teens face a number of charges after a speeding vehicle failed to stop for police and was later found in a ditch.
Upper Ottawa Valley OPP attempted to conduct a traffic stop of a speeding vehicle with three occupants on Highway 17 at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. The vehicle didn’t stop and turned on Black Bay Road in Petawawa.

Police didn’t pursue the vehicle, which was found a short time later abandoned in a ditch on Summers Road. The OPP’s canine unit and emergency response team were enlisted for a search.
Three teens were arrested in a nearby home. A license plate on the car was stolen.
Two 17-year-olds from Petawawa and a 15-year-old from Laurentian Valley township face charges of break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
The 17-year-old driver also faces a number of charges under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act, including theft under $5,000; speeding; using a license plate not authorized for a vehicle and failing to stop for police.
The three youths are to appear in court in Pembroke on Feb. 25. Their names can’t be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
