With lots of rain in the forecast, Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued a special weather statement for the National Capital Region and the Highway 417 corridor.

“Heavy downpours can cause water pooling on roads and reduced visibility. If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is also possible,” the statement warns.
About 20-30mm of rain is expected to fall today, with showers tapering off, at least for a while, this evening. Today’s high is expected to reach 11 C.
Later tonight, there’s a 60 per cent chance of rain showers or flurries accompanied by a low of -4 C. Wind is expected to be quite strong – with gusts up to 70 km/h. There will be an overnight wind chill of -10.
Clouds will clear on Monday with a high of 4 C. Monday’s low will again be -4 C.
