Seven people were arrested Wednesday as OPP officers raided a property on Hay Road in South Glengarry Township, seizing more than 5,000 cannabis plants along with growing and processing equipment.
Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP’s community street crime unit executed the search warrant with the help of the force’s organized crime enforcement bureau, emergency response team, canine unit and members of the local detachment.

Officials from the Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit, Canada Border Services Agency and Ontario’s ministry of labour took part, along with South Glengarry Township staff and the fire department.
The people arrested range in age from 29 to 56 and are from Markham, Scarborough, Unionville and Cornwall.
All seven face a total of five charges under the Cannabis Act related to the possession, cultivation and distribution of illicit cannabis. Three of them also face criminal charges of fraud over $5,000 and falsification of books and documents with fraudulent intent.
All those charged were released pending a court date in Alexandria April 7.
