A fleeing suspect who crashed his car while evading police didn’t do a very good job of covering his tracks — literally.
Police in MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais allege that a Gracefield man tried to outrun an officer who clocked him on radar speeding on Highway 105 at about 1:20 p.m. Tuesday.

In his haste, the speeder ran his car into the wall of a business in the Alcove area of La Pêche then abandoned the vehicle and sprinted towards a wooded area, police said.
“When the officers arrived, they only had to follow the footprints of the snow to find the individual hidden behind a tree, with his boots and part of his coat clearly visible,” according to a release Wednesday
“He offered no resistance.”
The 29-year-old, who already had a warrant out for his arrest, was charged with flight from police, dangerous driving and obstruction and will be ticketed for leaving the scene of a collision, speeding and driving with a suspended licence.
He was held in custody with a court appearance scheduled for Wednesday.
