A female passenger was seriously injured when the car in which she was riding struck a tractor trailer from behind on Highway 105 in the Alcove sector of La Pêche Municipality in western Quebec on Tuesday.
MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais police said the collision occurred just before 12 noon on the northbound section of the roadway, north of Wakefield.

According to a police online post, the driver of the truck was attempting to pull over at the side of the road when his rig was hit from behind by the car travelling in the same direction.
“The impact was violent,” police said, and emergency crews had to use power equipment to extricate the passenger from the car.
“However, we do not fear for her life,” police said, adding that the driver of the car was not injured.
Highway 105 was closed temporarily because of the collision, but reopened later in the day.
