There was no reason provided, nor did the police services board say whether Letourneau was fired or had resigned. His appointment as CAO was announced in August 2019. An accountant and financial manager by training, Letourneau had been with the service for just over five years.
Citing the confidential nature of personnel matters, the board said it would not be providing any more information but did say it was the result of a unanimous decision.
The news release said Chief Peter Sloly has taken interim steps to deal with the vacated position while the board seeks “an expedited process” to find a replacement.
The police service has 2,100 employees, about 1,500 officers and 620 civilians.
