Two people escaped without injury from a fire that damaged a home in Carleton Place early Saturday.
The Carleton Place and Lanark County detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police reported that the fire engulfed the residence on Patterson Crescent, just east of the community’s hospital and arena, just before 1 a.m.
Police said crews from the Ocean Wave Fire Company, Mississippi Mills Fire Department and Beckwith Fire Department eventually brought the fire under control. There was some damage to a neighbouring residence, a media release added.
OPP also said the Office of the Fire Marshal had been called to investigate the cause of the fire. It remained undetermined as of Saturday evening, but “is not deemed to be suspicious,” police added.
