Hydro Ottawa crews are working to fix a series of breaks in the west end that left thousands of customers without power Wednesday afternoon.
The utility said on Twitter the outage affected Westboro, Lincoln Fields, Woodroffe, Baseline and other regions.

The cause was listed as loss of supply from the provincial grid.
“Our crews are performing emergency switching to restore service to all possible affected customers.”
By about 3:15 p.m., some areas had been restored, but there were still an estimated 17,000 customers without power due to 18 outages.
The utility estimated repairs could take as long as two hours to complete.
