Police on the Quebec side of the Ottawa River have had their hands full with impaired drivers this week.
Shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, the Sûreté du Québec were called to a collision on Highway 50 near Boulevard Lorrain exit in which one vehicle rear-ended another. There were no injuries, but the driver of one of the vehicles, a 35-year-old man from Gatineau, was arrested. He was released on a promise to appear in court and faces charges of impaired driving and refusing to provide a breath sample.

The man’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle impounded for 30 days.
Also Wednesday, Gatineau police nabbed a man found to be driving with four times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood. In a tweet, Gatineau police said it was the man’s fourth impaired driving charge. In addition to the court date, his licence was suspended and his vehicle seized.
