Firefighters quickly doused fires that were contained to single rooms in both a Beechwood Avenue café and a Westboro church.
A monitoring company reported an alarm at the business on Beechwood Avenue near Chapleau Avenue at 2:10 a.m. Friday.

Arriving firefighters, who could see a haze through the window and the smoke increased as firefighters went inside.
They “knocked down” a fire that was contained to a room in the basement.
The fire was under control at 2:23 a.m. and extinguished by 2:40 a.m. with crews remaining on the scene to clear the smoke.
Red Door Provisions said on social media that “we are OK, and our shop will be fine,” but that the establishment would be temporarily closed due to the fire. The shop said that more details would be shared Friday morning with patrons, who responded with a flood of good wishes.
