Aylmer residents have been banned from watering their lawns by “mechanical” means.
The city of Gatineau made the announcement, which remains in effect until further notice, on Monday, in response to the current heat wave. The ban does not apply to those who have already obtained a permit to water a new lawn.
The city is also urging all residents to reduce their use of tap water whenever possible, and to be especially mindful between 3 a.m. and 9 a.m., and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
“Laundry, baths, showers and the use of dishwashers should be put off to other times of day,” the city advises.
“Manual watering and washing vehicles should also be reconsidered.”
