327 parking tickets issued, 91 vehicles towed in Canada Day operations

City of Ottawa bylaw officers issued a total of 483 parking tickets with the “vehicle control zone” in place downtown over the Canada Day long weekend, while 113 vehicles were towed, the service said Sunday morning.

Three food trucks had been ticketed for not having licences as of Saturday.

Certain bylaw fines, such as those for unusual noise, shouting, and idling, were increased to $1,000 “so as to ensure a safe and respectful Canada Day,” the service said on Twitter before the holiday.

Reminder: The downtown Ottawa motor vehicle control zone remains in effect until at least Monday. The majority of the zone borders Laurier Avenue, Booth Street, Wellington Street and streets surrounding the ByWard market and Rideau Centre area.
